Just when it appears as though Anthony might finally grow from his heartbreak, as he has been prone to do all season, he takes the wrong lesson from it and resolves to remove love entirely from his next relationship, declaring love itself as the problem. By the end of the season, Siena has finally broken things off with him for good. He spends season 1 in an on-again, off-again relationship with opera singer Siena (Sabrina Bartlett), with whom he's truly in love, but knows he can't be with her due to her lower class. Yet, the audience is given glimpses there's a deeply good man waiting to break out. He starts out as an overbearing older brother, using arrogance to mask the fact he's scared to death and has no idea how to be a Viscount or handle the responsibilities of being the man of the family after his father's passing. Here's where all the major and supporting characters are at by the end of season 1 and what season 2 might bring.Īnthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) has one of the most dramatic character arcs in the first season and is incredibly frustrating to watch. Along with those and a few other characters who are not related to either the Bridgertons or Featheringtons, there are a number of stories season 1 sets up heading into Bridgerton Season 2. And their newly-arrived distant cousin, Marina, is desperately trying to hide a fact of her own: She's pregnant and she needs to find a husband before anyone figures out she's with child. Lady Featherington is trying to wed her daughters off while desperately trying to hide the fact her husband has gambled away their daughters' dowries. Though the reasoning behind it would be different, it's not outside the realm of possibility for it to be construed that Simon's priorities have become almost as skewed as his father's.Still, Bridgerton is a show with a true ensemble cast, and a number of other characters had their stories begun, if not completely finished, in the first season. Simon would just as much be overlooking the importance of having a full presence in his son's life. That would go double if Simon's absence remained a factor in Bridgerton's future, thus forming a recurring pattern. While that wouldn't be as substantial as the neglect demonstrated by his father - nor as brutally intended - it would nonetheless be a repeat of Simon's upbringing. ![]() The marriage season has been shown to last a good few months. Equally, it would be hard to explain away with exposition. As such, Simon's absence from his life will be as keenly felt as his father's absence was felt by him. No matter how much time would've passed between seasons, Daphne and Simon's child will be extremely young and likely remain with her. With Daphne confirmed to be returning, however, there could be some unintended consequences. After all, it would allow the show to avoid having to pull focus. With things shifting to Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his own quest for marriage, having Simon missing from Bridgerton season 2 could be a good narrative decision. Given that, it would be all-but-impossible to imagine him succumbing to his father's ways down the line.
